A.nnotate is a web service that offers an online collaboration place for users to edit, work on and annotate on a document. Users can annotate onto a .pdf, image or other document. A.nnotate can also act as an online storage place for one's notes and documents. Documents and web snapshots are stored securely in one's private space. Tags and descriptions can also be added to docs in order for them to be best organized. The items can be notated and tagged so that precise parts are referenced and commented upon. The tags are highlighted and easily noticed on top of the document. Users can send out invitations for others to view a document and to share their thoughts on the work thus far. There is also a homepage that lists all of the latest edits to a document and it notes who made what changes as well. The person who submitted the invites can also receive alerts when their respondents view and edit documents as well.

A.nnotate is an application that was developed by the Scottish company, Textensor Limited. It was developed in 2010. A.nnotate is considered the flagship product for its company. As of May 2012, it is used by thousands of individuals and groups who need to store or share comments on documents, web pages or images. A.nnotate was co-founded by Fred Howell and Robert Cannon.

A.nnotate offers many features and makes online collaboration on document very simple and transparent. Since users can annotate on pretty much anything- be it a document, PDF or image- it is a pretty comprehensive app.

A.nnotate has a pretty intuitive user interface and users can be invited to share or edit a document and could jump right into the app without much pre-work. The site was fast and responsive. There were no bugs or issues encountered during this review and the site functioned as promised. Overall, it was a solid user experience.

To register for A.nnotate users can click onto the 'Register' hyperlink in the upper-right corner of their homepage. A.nnotate asks users to input their email address. From there, users will need to validate their email address by clicking onto a welcome link in their inbox. From there users can access the free version of the A.nnotate app.

A.nnotate is a service that is based on credits. Short PDF and Word docs can be uploaded at 5 credits per page. Web snapshots are 10 credits. All new users to A.nnotate are provided 150 credits per month for free. From there they can pay for extra credits on a pay-as-you-go process. Users can also upgrade to an individual or group subscription. Group subscriptions run $10 per month per user and provide the account up to 10000 credits per month.

A.nnotate is a useful tool for individuals, groups, academics or professionals. For anyone who is in need to collaborate on a project with others online, this is a great tool.
